Juicing To Lose Weight

A few days ago, someone asked me about juicing to lose weight. It’s a bit funny because I only weigh between 52 to 55 kilos (about 114 – 121 lbs). I was just talking about juicing and how it helps to lose weight and somebody actually asked me how much they should juice and how to lose weight.

Well, I’m just excited about juicing because of the fact that my hubby started juicing to lose weight. He’s not that heavy, probably about 75 kilos (165 lbs). However, he’s got a belly that I often tease him about. So, he’s been wanting to lose weight for a while now. He tried a few diets, some weight lifting and exercises but nothing really worked. He gets tired of it after awhile and loses interest.

Then I discovered Vitamin C and it’s benefits and discovered about the Gerson Therapy diet. We learned about juicing which Gerson advocates and learned about it’s benefits and decided to try it.

His mum has diabetes, I have gestational diabetes (when I had my kids) and he thinks he might be borderline diabetic. After reading much about juicing we decided to try it for good health and for him to lose weight.

After so many months or maybe years of trying, he finally was able to lose weight in a matter of days. So far he has lost about 5 kilos. He probably just has to lose 5 kilos more and that’s it. And yes, he is cheating. Just can’t go without it, can we?

The benefits for me were great, too! My nagging headaches disappeared. A friend of mine tells me it was migraine headache but I don’t really know since I wasn’t diagnosed but those headaches would last me hours a day for a few days and I’d have to lie down for a few hours because sometimes they were just unbearable. But now they’re gone so I’m really happy! :-)

Okay so going back to juicing to lose weight… I’ve actually tried it, too. When my headaches were gone, I was so happy that I was juicing a lot in a day. For breakfast, I had orange juice. Then lunchtime, I had carrot juice or apple and carrot juice. In between meals, when I was hungry, I’d get an orange juice or apple orange juice. Dinner time, I’d have carrot apple juice before a meal. So I rarely ate each day since the juices kept me full and full of energy. When I did this, I lost about half a kilo a day. I did it for about 3 days so I lost about 1 1/2 kilos. So, I had to force myself to eat just so I don’t lose weight.

These days, our favourite is 2 parts carrots, 1 part apple and 1 part orange. Sometimes I put some lemon on the mix, too. We love it and our kids love it. My 3 year old drinks at least a cup a day and he can finish his juice in around 1 to 5 minutes without any complaints.

So yes, juicing to lose weight really works. Try it! You’ll be amazed! :-)
